no pain no gain

was thinking of random things when i was doing the laundry just now. i'm always complaining that im poor because when it comes to month-end, my bank account always deplete to triple digit. (with a decimal point after the first digit). and i'll whine about paying for the utilities and phone bill, etc.

but, how poor is exactly poor?
i've a roof over my head. i've three meals a day. i've clothes to wear (only a matter of whether i can still fit in anot). i've the opportunity to study.

look at what's going on in the world now. we've earthquake in china. the many thousands who's trapped under the debris. those who lost their home in a spilt second. little kids who died when they're barely old enough to know what's going on. families who lost their loved ones.

take a look at inflation.
inflation at its record high this year. and the price hike falls on what? necessities.
and who's going to be affected? the poor of course. wages of the poor remain stagnant. while the rich gets richer. the rich will exploit the poor and the poor trapped in poverty cycle. the cycle goes on. just like how it've always been around since karl marx's time.
i remember watching this documentary few years back. it talks about donations to the poor countries. for every $2 you donated, only a part, maybe 50cents goes to them.

consumerism. more often than not, we spent un-neccesary money on certain things you dont need, but eventually bought cause of advertisements.
take for example, when you buy a bra. not that bra is not neccessary, it is extremely important to ppl with big boobies (definitely not me). but for that $60 you paid for a Victoria Secret or La Senza bra, you could maybe get two of the same design and quality. i dont see what's special about it anyway. maybe the only thing is La Senza's lace won't feel as itchy on you as compared to the rest.


okay. sorry about this random post. i dont know what spark off today's thoughts. i think this little enlightenment won't stay for long. cause idontknow. we're all living ironies, is there such a word?
